Bass Demo Recording
Took my new Bass Pod XT Live for a test flight this afternoon... no crash landings. A little baffled that the "DI" output doesn't actually send out an unaffected bass signal. The "model" output of course sounds great, so I had to split the signal before going into the Pod in order to get a raw DI signal into the computer. The line 6 Edit program rocks... mucho better than stooping over the floorboard while trying to tweak the settings. The test subject today was "Severe Annoyance"... but the Pod proved anything but. Sweet. Check out this sample .mp3

Music for a Death Ride Mastering Complete
Another trip to Blue Seven Audio last night and the mastering for "Music for a Death Ride" is now complete. Sounds pretty darn spiffy, too! I'll have more details soon… and samples online at some point. But now I have to get the artwork together...

Out with the rack... Lightening the load.
Another jam session tonight —working on a couple more of the new tunes. Or should I say hacking our way through them a few times. As it turned out, it wasn't all that shabby. Just a couple hundred more times through and we'll have something in presentable shape.

On the Tone end of things, I'm getting rid of my rack. Tired of lugging around a giant efrigerator-sized box in order to have the semblance of decent, workable bass tone, I'm throwing in the towel on that and going with a nice little thing we like to call the Line6 Bass POD XT live.

bass pod xt live

A key ingredient in my rack was the rack-mount Bass POD Pro, and I've used that in recording demos during the past couple of years, but as its collection of internal effects did not include any delay or reverb... I had to use it in conjunction with a bunch of other stuff. Hence the refrigerator-sized box.

Anyway, the XT live worked great during practice... Tweaking the presets seem intuitive enough —and it sounded great. I'm going to miss that refridgerator-sized box. Wait a minute. No I'm not.
